About Our Club
The first Nzema club to reach the Ghana Premier League. Born in Aiyinase, driven by community, built on Pride & Passion.
From Humble Beginnings to Ghana’s Top Flight
Karela United FC was founded on 1st October 2013, when the former Metropolitan Sporting Club was reborn with a new identity and a burning ambition: to put the Nzema enclave of the Ellembelle District, Western Region of Ghana on the football map.
Starting from scratch in the lower divisions, the club competed in the Ghana Division One League — and refused to settle. Season after season, the squad was built on discipline, community spirit, and an unyielding desire to rise. In 2017, that ambition became history: Karela United became the first Nzema club ever to earn promotion to the Ghana Premier League.
We call home the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park (CAM Park) in Aiyinase — a fortress backed by some of the most passionate supporters in Ghanaian football. Our fierce Nzema Derby rivalry with Medeama SC is one of the most anticipated fixtures on the GPL calendar.
Today, in our 6th position in the 2025/26 GPL standings, we continue to chase excellence — not just on the pitch, but in our community. Pride & Passion is more than a motto. It is who we are.
What We Stand For
Four pillars that define everything Karela United does — on the pitch, in training, and in the community.
Excellence
We demand the highest standards in training, performance, and personal conduct. Excellence is not a goal — it is a daily habit at Karela United.
Unity
From the first XI to the ball boys, from the coaching staff to the supporters in the stands — we are one. United in purpose, united in pride.
Community
We are more than a club. We are the heartbeat of Aiyinase and the wider Nzema community — giving back, inspiring young talent, and building futures.
Discipline
Hard work, dedication and sacrifice are the foundation of our success. Discipline sets champions apart — and we train like champions every single day.
